Cookroom privacy notice
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Cookroom is a new meal planner that Jeffrey and Maria are building. This notice explains what information we collect on cookroom.app and through the Cookroom email list, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.
Who we are. Cookroom is operated by Pattermark Ventures Inc. (“we”, “us”). Our mailing address is 322-71 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver BC V5Y 0J7, Canada. For anything about this notice or your information, email support@cookroom.app. Our Founder is responsible for privacy questions and can be reached at the same address.
What we collect
When you visit cookroom.app. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives the technical information any website needs in order to deliver pages and protect itself, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or local storage for this. We have not added advertising or social-media tracking to the site, and the site sets no cookies of its own.
When you join the email list. We collect:
- your email address;
- the fact that you agreed, which version of the signup wording you agreed to, and when you signed up and confirmed;
- your subscription status, such as waiting for confirmation, subscribed or unsubscribed.
To keep bots out, the signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals such as your IP address and browser details. We also limit repeated attempts from the same network. For that we keep a short-lived counter based on a scrambled, one-way value, not your IP address itself. We don’t store your IP address with your signup.
When you sign up, we also record how you found Cookroom: the campaign labels in the link you followed (source, medium, campaign and content) and the kind of site that sent you, such as a search engine or Reddit. We don’t record the address of that page. Your browser tab keeps those labels until the tab is closed, so they can be sent with your signup. We use them only to count which channels bring subscribers, and they are deleted with your signup record.
When you email us. We collect your message, your email address and anything else you choose to include, so we can reply.
We don’t ask for your name, phone number, household details or food preferences to join the email list.
How we use it
- To confirm your signup. We send one email asking you to confirm your address. You join the list only after you confirm. If you don’t confirm, we don’t email you again about that request.
- To send what you asked for. After you confirm, we send occasional emails about Cookroom, such as how it’s going and when it’s ready.
- To respect your choices. We keep track of unsubscribes so we don’t email you after you opt out, and so that a repeat signup can’t quietly re-subscribe you.
- To keep the form secure and prevent abuse.
- To reply to you when you write to us.
- To learn which channels work. We report these as totals, not about individuals.
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t give your email address to other companies for their own marketing.
Who helps us
We use a small number of service providers. They handle information on our behalf under their data-processing terms:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the signup database, provides bot protection and counts visits.
- Resend sends our emails and keeps the list, including your subscription and unsubscribe preferences. Resend keeps its account data in the United States, including contact records, copies and logs of the emails we send.
- Google Workspace receives and sends email for support@cookroom.app. Our help-desk software, which we run ourselves, keeps those conversations.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Where your information is processed
We’re based in Canada. Our providers process information in the United States and may process it in other countries. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed signups. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. We delete an unconfirmed request 30 days after its link expires.
- Subscribers. We keep your email address and signup record while you’re subscribed.
- After you unsubscribe. We keep a minimal record: your email address, your unsubscribe status, and when you signed up, confirmed and agreed, and to which wording. It lets us respect your choice and show how you agreed. We keep it for as long as we run the Cookroom email list. You can ask us to delete it sooner. If you do, and you later sign up again, you’ll simply need to confirm your email again.
- Abuse-prevention counters expire after about an hour and are then deleted.
- Emails you send us are kept in our support mailbox for 2 years.
- Email delivery records held by Resend are kept under Resend’s own retention practices.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time. Use the unsubscribe link in any update email, or email support@cookroom.app (a reply to one of our emails works too). We act on emailed requests within 2 business days.
- Access, correction and deletion. Email support@cookroom.app from the address concerned and tell us what you’d like: a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion. We may ask you to confirm that the address is yours. We respond within 30 days.
- Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect emails we sent before you withdrew it.
- If you’re in Canada, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in British Columbia, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
- If you’re in the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on your consent to send list emails and on our legitimate interests to secure the form and keep unsubscribe records. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office.
We’ll always tell you if we can’t meet a request and why.
Children
The Cookroom email list is meant for adults. Please don’t sign up if you’re under 16.
